19 Licensing Requirements Types of insurers

(1) Only the following insurers are eligible for a licence under
this Part:
(a) a provincial company;
(b) an extra-prov incial company;
(b.1) an extra-provincial Crown insurer or an affiliate of an
extra-provincial Crown insurer;
(c) a federally authorized company;
(d) an insurer made up of underwriters or syndicates of
underwriters operating on the plan known as Lloyd's or any
other plan approved by the Minister.
(2) Despite subsection (1), a fraternal society is eligible for a
licence under this Part only if
(a) the fraternal society is a fe derally authorized company, or
RSA 2000

(b) the fraternal society is in corporated under the laws of a
province other than Alberta.
