38 Preliminary investigation

(1) If a complaint has been made in writing, the chair shall
investigate the conduct of the practitioner within 30 days after the
RSA 2000

date on which the complaint is brought to the chair's attention by a
mediator, a complainant or any other person.
(2) The Council on the application of the chair may extend the
30-day period mentioned in subsection (1).
(3) If a complaint is not made in writing, the chair shall investigate
the conduct of the practitioner as soon as is reasonable after the
complaint is brought to the chair's attention.
(4) The chair may, at any time during an investigation of a
complaint, conduct a preliminary investigation or appoint a person
to conduct a preliminary investigation into the conduct or alleged
conduct of a practitioner.
