Part 6 — General Provisions
27 Restitution
Act may, on the application of the Minister of Justice or of a person
aggrieved or that person's representative, at the time sentence is
imposed, order the defendant to pay to an aggrieved person an
amount as restitution for loss of or damage to property suffered by
the aggrieved person as a result of the commission of the offence if
the amount is readily ascertainable.
(2) If an amount that is ordered to be paid under subsection (1) is
not paid within the time ordered by the justice, the applicant may,
by filing the order, enter as a judgment in the Court of King's
Bench the amount ordered to be paid, and that judgment is
enforceable against the defendant in the same manner as if it were a
judgment rendered against the defendant in the Court of King's
Bench in civil proceedings.
(3) Every person who is ordered to pay an amount under this
section must make the payments in accordance with the order.
