202 Associations for recreation

Current to 2022-12-15 · Official PDF

(1) When an association has been or is about to be formed as a
limited company solely for the purpose of promoting recreation
among its members and it is the intention of the association to
apply the profits, if any, or any other income of the association in
promoting its objects and it is not formed with gain for its object
and no dividend shall be divided among the members of the
association, the Registrar may direct the association to be
registered with limited liability without the addition of the word
"limited" to its name, and the association may be registered
accordingly.
(2) On registration the association has all the privileges conferred
and is subject to the obligations imposed by this Act on limited
companies, with the exception that none of the provisions of this
Act that require a limited company to use the word "limited" as a
part of its name or to publish its name apply to an association so
registered.
