New Home Buyer Protection Act s. 8

(1) The Minister shall appoint an employee of the Government as
the Registrar to carry out the duties and powers of the Registrar
under this Act.
(2) The Registrar is authorized to collect, directly or indirectly, the
personal information needed to carry out the Registrar's duties and
powers.
(3) The Registrar may, for the purpose of assisting the public,
publicly disclose information, including personal information,
obtained under this Act and no liability results from the disclosure
if it was made in good faith.
(4) The Registrar shall
(a) provide information to the Superintendent of Insurance
appointed under the Insurance Act respecting
(i) any matter that is subject to the Insurance Act, and
(ii) any compliance orders is sued to a warranty provider,
and

(b) provide information to the Director of Fair Trading
appointed under the Consumer Protection Act respecting
any matter that is subject to the Consumer Protection Act.
(5) The Registrar
(a) may, on application by a permit issuer or an applicant for a
permit, determine whether a building or a portion of a
building or a proposed building or a portion of a proposed
building is a new home to which this Act applies or is
exempt from the application of this Act, and
(b) may, on application by a residential builder, owner builder
or owner of a building or a proposed building that is subject
to an exemption under this Act, provide notice that the
building or proposed building is exempt from the
application of this Act.
(6) The Registrar shall give notice of a decision to the applicant
under subsection (5) and mail a copy to the registered owner of the
land on which the building is or is proposed to be located.
