23 Discovery in laboratory
body reveals evidence of a communicable disease, the director of
the laboratory conducting the examination shall,
(a) in the case of a disease pres cribed in the regulations for the
purposes of this clause, notify a medical officer of health

(i) by the fastest means possibl e in the case of a prescribed
disease that is designated in the regulations as requiring
immediate notification, or
(ii) within 48 hours in the prescribed form or by telephone,
in the case of any other prescribed disease,
and
(b) in the case of a disease refe rred to in section 20(2), notify a
medical officer of health in the prescribed form within 48
hours.
